Cosmetology Program

Course: 1500 Clock Hour Cosmetology program leads to a diploma with successful training and experience. The program ranges from 40 to 50 weeks; minimum 10 months – maximum 12 months.

The Cosmetology program course outline, daily lesson plans ensure that all subjects are taught in the correct sequence with a proper balance devoted to theory and practical instruction. Classes are designed to help students develop desirable work habits, attitudes, safety practices, and awareness of professional responsibilities. To provide students with a working knowledge of current cosmetology practices, each class will be evaluated periodically.

The program levels are determined by the number of weeks in training and achievement. Program levels are broken down into Freshman, Junior, and Senior.

Freshman Level 180 Clock Hours/6 weeks; is designed to cover the fundamentals of Cosmetology beginning with early history, professional image, and vocabulary. Freshman level continues to cover infection control and properties of hair and scalp. Freshman level also introduces principles of hair design, scalp care, shampooing, and conditioning. Freshman level concludes with training in hair coloring, hair styling, facial manipulation, and hair removal. To transition into Junior level, a final examination must be successfully passed.

Junior Level 180 Clock Hours/6 weeks is for those students who complete Freshman.   The junior-level introduces life skills and communication, chemistry, haircutting, braiding, and braid extension. The junior-level also covers wigs, hair enhancement, chemical texture service, manicures, and pedicures. Students are responsible for recruiting two or more clients within the junior level’s duration to provide them with three out the following four services: chemical (relaxer or color), blow-dry, and haircut. . To transition into senior-level a final examination must be successfully passed.

Senior Level 1140 Clock Hours/38 weeks is for those students who complete Freshman and Junior levels.   The senior-level begins with education on general anatomy and physiology, electricity, makeup, and employment—senior-level advances on skin growth and nutrition, nail and skin disorders/ diseases. Senior-level students are permitted to perform services on the salon’s live clientele under licensed cosmetology instructor supervision. Senior-level students are also required to complete a mock state board between 900-1500 hours, which completes the senior final examination.

All students graduating from our Cosmetology Program will complete the following:
  • Maintain satisfactory progress according to school policies, 70% practical and written evaluations, and 67% attendance.
  • Complete the required number of 1500 clock hours, theory and practical performances, and evaluations.
  • Pass the program final exams theory and practical with a grade of 75%.
  • Satisfy all financial obligations to the school.
